Lee R ay comes into po ssession of a pistol, an d soon he and Cozy find themselves unintentiona lly involv ed in a shoot ing. Fearing capture by th e law, the two make plans t o leave town, committ ing a ser ies of robberi es on the way. However, the y don&#3 9;t manage to get v ery far; i ndeed, the film& amp;#39;s cent ral premise is how the roma ntic myth of lovers on the la m proves disapp ointing in the face of a far more ped estrian re ality.
